Pricing

Construction ongoing, updates to follow. Basic information below.

I have tried to keep pricing simple and comparable, whether your guitar is pre-built, a part built one that you have selected or a commission.

Pre-built guitars will have a price listed.

Prices do not include postage and packing. At the time of writing post and packaging for a guitar is £25.

Your guitar will be packed extremely well.

Commissioning a guitar.

Please contact regarding commissioning a guitar and I shall discuss all details including timescale and deposit, payment stages. Fuller information will be available on this page in due course.

Pricing is very straightforward for materials involved in your guitar build. It is simply what I pay for materials, components etc and their associated postage costs with no bumps for sourcing parts.

In this regard can be cheaper than average for a few reasons such as your custom wound pick ups are not costing £150. I cut the flatwork, assemble the bobbins and wind them myself. For any of my handmade guitars they are charged at base material cost and time, not boutique prices.

Another example regarding lower cost is that with the diode laser/CNC machine/3d printer templates, tools, jigs, bespoke control knobs etc are available already or can be made. I do not need to outsource to a third party.

One area I am dependent on is purchasing necks. It is far more cost efficient to buy a pre-made neck than for me to make one at this stage.

In a typical guitar build material costs start from around £350. In a commission, the spec that you request will affect this cost.

The other component of cost is time. 50 hours over is a typical minimum. The hourly rate with me on a hand built guitar is therefore quite modest. I do it because I love it. They say that the way to make a small fortune through building guitars is to start off with a large fortune!
